How To Choose The Right Awning for Your Car
If you’re spending time outdoors alongside your car, van or SUV, a 4WD SIDE AWNING is a game-changer. Whether you’re planning an overland trip, a weekend getaway, or a cross-country expedition, having a side awning gives you near instant extra space for cooking, dining area, extra sleeping area or storage.
4WD awnings are extremely practical, easy to install, store and set up and offer protection from the sun and rain. When the sun is scorching or the rain is pouring, they spring into action, providing you with the shade or shelter you need.

Choosing the Right Awning: Self-Supporting vs. Leg-Supported
Consider your Needs
Side Awning Systems have evolved these days, but there’s 2x Main Groups, Self Supporting (no need for legs in normal use) and Non Self Supporting.
Non Self Supporting Awnings have legs that must be used to help support the awning at all times when deployed, and we’d always suggest using guy ropes too keep them safe in windy conditions. They tend to be made of lighter materials and so are ideal for roof bars, not just big racks.
Self Supporting Awnings have stronger arms to allow them to support themselves, without using legs (in normal, moderate conditions). They tend to be built heavier and are more expensive. They also need stronger support systems so tend to be better on HD roof racks.
