Which ALU-CAB Canopy Should I Choose?

Both are strong, lightweight and designed to become part of a complete vehicle setup. The main difference is in their design and how you want to use your pick-up.

ALU-CAB Contour Canopy

The more refined, modern option. The Contour combines a clean, vehicle-specific shape with large side-opening doors, integrated roof rails and the choice of solid sides or windows.

At approximately 57–62kg depending on configuration, it's impressively light for a load-bearing aluminium canopy, with a maximum 200kg dynamic and 400kg static roof load.

It's our first choice for customers wanting to build a premium touring or overland pick-up with a roof tent, awning, storage and other accessories.

ALU-CAB Explorer Canopy

Simple, tough and extremely practical. The Explorer is ALU-CAB's proven aluminium canopy design, with large gullwing side doors and a full rear window for excellent visibility and access to the load bed.

Integrated roof rails make it ready for compatible roof tents, awnings and load-carrying accessories, with the same impressive maximum 200kg dynamic and 400kg static roof-load ratings.

If function, durability and straightforward access are your priorities, the Explorer is difficult to beat.

ALU-CAB Canopy FAQs

What's the difference between the Contour and Explorer Canopy?
The Contour is the newer, more refined design and is available with solid sides or windows on applicable vehicles. The Explorer is ALU-CAB's proven, highly practical canopy with a full rear window and excellent load-bed access.

Can I put a roof tent on an ALU-CAB canopy?
Yes. Both the Contour and Explorer have integrated roof rails and are designed to carry compatible roof tents and other equipment within their specified load limits.

What is the roof-load rating?
Both canopy ranges have a maximum roof-load rating of 200kg dynamic and 400kg static. Always consider the complete setup and individual vehicle/application specifications.

Can I add accessories later?
Yes. That's one of the big advantages of the ALU-CAB system. Storage, fridge slides, cupboards, tables, load bars and other accessories can be added as your setup develops.
