The TUFFTREK® Sahara-X is a hybrid hard shell roof tent combining fast setup with the extra sleeping space of a fold-out design.
Its X-Hinge system opens in around 30 seconds to create a generous 152 × 218cm sleeping area, while premium 320gsm blackout ripstop canvas, a 50mm memory foam mattress and integrated lighting make it a comfortable base for weekends away, touring and longer overland adventures.

Why Choose a Hybrid Roof Tent?
The Sahara-X sits between a traditional soft top roof tent and a compact hard shell.
You get the quick setup and protective outer shell of a hard shell tent, but once unfolded there's considerably more sleeping space inside. It's ideal if you want a fast touring tent without giving up the roomy feel of a fold-out design.

Installation
The Sahara-X weighs approximately 89kg and must be fitted to a suitably rated vehicle and roof-bar or roof-rack system.
It can be mounted to two or three suitable transverse roof bars or a compatible flat roof rack. We recommend roof bars with a minimum 100kg dynamic load rating, subject to the vehicle manufacturer's own roof-load limits.
We do not recommend flush-fit roof bars or roof bars that clamp around the vehicle door frame for the Sahara-X.

FAQs
Can one person open the Sahara-X?
Yes. The Sahara-X is designed so one person can open and close it, with setup taking around 30 seconds.
Can I leave the Sahara-X fitted all year?
Yes. We recommend opening the tent periodically to air it and checking for moisture or condensation, particularly if the vehicle is not being used regularly.
Is the Sahara-X suitable for winter camping?
Yes. The 320gsm blackout canvas and dedicated diesel heater port make it well suited to colder-weather trips when used with appropriate camping equipment.
Can I fit an Annex Room?
Yes. The dedicated Sahara-X Annex Room zips directly to the tent flysheet to create additional enclosed space.
Can I add an awning?
Yes. The dedicated Sahara-X Awning attaches directly to the tent and provides extra sheltered living space.
Can I carry equipment on top?
Optional roof load bars can be added for suitable lightweight equipment or solar installations. The Sahara-X system is designed to allow up to approximately 25kg of additional load on the optional bars, subject to the limits of the vehicle and complete roof system.
Will the Sahara-X fit my vehicle?
That depends on your vehicle's dynamic roof-load rating and the roof bars or rack being used. Because the Sahara-X weighs approximately 89kg, we recommend checking compatibility carefully before ordering.
