Which Roof Tent is Best for a Ford Ranger?
The best setup depends on how many people you're sleeping, how often you'll use the tent and whether you want it mounted above the cab or pickup bed.
For a lighter setup, our Soft Top Roof Tents offer plenty of sleeping space without the weight of a larger hard shell.

Mounting a Roof Tent on a Ford Ranger
Getting the mounting system right is just as important as choosing the tent itself.
For a roof tent mounted above the Ranger cab, we recommend a properly rated roof rack or load-bar system designed for roof-tent loads.
TUFFTREK® does not recommend relying on roof bars that simply grip around the upper door frame for a roof-tent installation.
For more serious touring builds, we'd recommend either a suitable permanently mounted roof rack or mounting the tent over the pickup bed using a load-bearing canopy.

It provides secure storage underneath while creating a strong platform above for your roof tent, awning and other expedition equipment.

It's an excellent base for a Ranger roof tent and gives you plenty of options for additional storage and accessories.
ALU-CAB Canopies
ALU-CAB's lightweight aluminium pickup canopies are designed with overland travel in mind and work extremely well with roof tents and awnings.
Depending on your Ranger model, options include the ALU-CAB Contour and Explorer Canopy ranges.
Cab or Canopy Mounted?
Cab mounted – A good option if you want to retain completely unrestricted use of the pickup bed. Use a correctly rated roof rack or mounting system.
Canopy mounted – Ideal for touring and overland builds where you want secure storage underneath and a roof tent, awning and accessories above.
For many dedicated Ranger camping builds, a load-bearing canopy is our preferred solution.
Ford Ranger Wildtrak, Raptor & PHEV
There are numerous Ford Ranger models and generations on UK roads, including Wildtrak, Raptor and the newer Ranger PHEV.
Roof, load-bed and accessory configurations can differ, so don't assume a mounting solution suitable for one Ranger is automatically suitable for another.
