The roof tent that's been to windswept Iceland and the heat of Kenya — and come back looking brand new. 13 years of expedition testing, zero shortcuts.
When you need a roof tent that's stood the test of time, you need a TUFFTREK® PRO-Ruggedised. These tents are built heavier than any other brand out there — designed and constructed from stronger materials for a lifetime of adventures.
Our PRO-Ruggedised tents have been pitched in just about every environment our customers can find: rainy, windswept Iceland, the heat of Kenya, the Scottish Highlands in a downpour. They come out on top every time.
We believe quality counts. With 13 years of experience, you can trust our products — and so can the thousands of overlanders already sleeping in one.
Every detail on this tent exists because a cheaper version of it failed somebody, somewhere, on a real trip. Here's what you're actually getting.
The main tent body is genuine 320g ripstop polycotton canvas with a 3000mm hydrostatic head rating. That's a fabric built to take UK weather and hold its shape season after season — not a thin shell that sags by year two.
320g Ripstop Canvas3000mm HH RatingThe flysheet is 420D fire-retardant, UV-protected polyester. The optional lower annex steps that up further, with a 5000mm hydrostatic head rating — genuinely weatherproof, not just water-resistant on the box.
420D Fire-Retardant Polyester5000mm HH AnnexEvery seam is double stitched and silicone seam taped. It's a slower, more expensive way to build a tent — and it's the only way to stop water finding its way in when the rain doesn't let up for a weekend.
Double StitchedSilicone Seam TapedEnlarged internal poles are fabric-lined to reduce condensation and built to stay rigid when the wind picks up in the night. You won't be lying awake wondering if the frame is going to give.
Enlarged Internal PolesFabric-LinedA 70mm high-density foam mattress with a washable cover comes as standard. This isn't a thin foam pad you tolerate for one night — it's comfortable enough that you'll actually want to get back up there tomorrow.
70mm HD FoamWashable CoverYKK zips are used throughout. It sounds like a small detail until you're trying to seal out midges in the Highlands with a zip that's already jammed. Ours don't.
YKK Zips ThroughoutBug Nets On Every Window & DoorThe tent opens in 1–2 minutes. Add the optional annex and you're looking at another 5–10 minutes for a full basecamp setup. Arrive late, pitch fast, and still catch the sunset.
1–2 Min Tent SetupTelescopic Ladder IncludedAdd the optional full-height annex and you get a sealed lower room with a heavy-duty, removable PVC groundsheet — ideal for changing, cooking, extra storage, or giving kids and pets their own space. It zips directly to the tent and unzips for easy cleaning.

The original PRO-Ruggedised. Compact, light enough for smaller vehicles, and comfortably sleeps 2 adults.
Same footprint philosophy, a little more room to stretch out, without adding meaningful weight.
For couples who want proper space to move, sit up and store gear without living out of a bag.
The biggest in the range — built for families who need genuine space up top, not a squeeze.
Not studio shots. This is what a PRO-Ruggedised actually looks like after a few years of real use.
If you're still weighing it up, this is everything customers ask us before ordering.
“After being let down by a cheap online tent, I decided to go with Tuff-Trek and wow — what a difference. This gear is proper rugged. We've taken it through the Highlands and back, and it still looks brand new. Top service too.”
“I didn't expect a rooftop tent to be this comfortable, but the Tuff-Trek roof tent blew me away. Easy to put up, loads of space inside, and surprisingly cosy even in colder nights. Massive respect to the Tuff-Trek crew.”
“Tuff-Trek sorted us out with an awning and annex and it's been a game-changer for our overlanding rig. Everything's well made and fits like a glove. Their advice was honest and no-nonsense, which I really appreciated.”
Four sizes. One promise: built to outlast the trip.
