The TUFFTREK® Overland MK3 is built for travellers who expect their roof tent to handle more than the occasional summer campsite. Heavy-duty aluminium construction, a fully twin-layer 400gsm canvas body and an insulated, carpeted interior make this a genuinely expedition-focused roof tent for demanding conditions and year-round travel.
Inside, a 70mm mattress, integrated lighting, 12V and USB power, storage organisers and increased internal height create a comfortable sleeping space designed for longer trips as well as weekends away.

Built for Serious Overland Travel
The Overland MK3 sits at the top of the TUFFTREK® hard shell range because its construction is deliberately different.
Rather than relying on a single canvas wall, the MK3 uses a fully twin-layer 400gsm canvas body, combined with an insulated ceiling and carpeted interior. This creates a substantial additional barrier against wind and changing temperatures and makes the tent particularly well suited to longer trips and more demanding conditions.
The heavy-duty aluminium shell, protective BODY ARMOUR system and integrated roof rails complete a roof tent designed around real overland use rather than simply keeping weight to a minimum.

Please note: the vehicle power cable is not included. Connection requires a suitable cable terminating in a 50A grey Anderson connector.
Installation
The Overland MK3 mounts using integrated north-to-south aluminium base rails and is supplied with locking plates and M8 mounting hardware.
At this weight, the MK3 requires a suitably rated vehicle and a substantial roof-bar or roof-rack system. We recommend it primarily for 4x4s, pickups, vans and other vehicles with appropriately rated roof systems rather than lightweight passenger-car installations.
Always check the vehicle manufacturer's dynamic roof-load limit as well as the rating of the roof bars or rack before installation.

What makes the Overland MK3 different from other TUFFTREK® hard shell tents?
The MK3 is our expedition-focused model. Its fully twin-layer 400gsm canvas, insulated and carpeted interior, heavy-duty aluminium construction and integrated BODY ARMOUR system make it particularly well suited to demanding and longer-term overland travel.
How much does the Overland MK3 weigh?
The tent itself weighs approximately 84kg excluding the ladder and mattress. The complete installed weight will therefore be higher, so vehicle and roof-system load limits must be checked carefully.
Does it have built-in power?
Yes. The MK3 includes USB charging, a 12V socket and built-in LED lighting, with power supplied through an external 50A Anderson connection.
Can I carry equipment on top?
The MK3 has integrated aluminium roof rails for mounting suitable additional equipment. Any additional load must remain within the permitted limits of the tent, roof rack or bars and vehicle.
Can TUFFTREK® fit the Overland MK3?
Yes. Due to its size and weight, professional installation is particularly worthwhile. We can advise on vehicle compatibility and install the tent at our East Sussex workshop.
How is the Overland MK3 delivered?
The MK3 is a large, heavy item and is normally delivered by pallet. Suitable unloading facilities may be required, so please contact us before ordering if you're unsure.
